About

About The Artist | Joe Rector

Joe A Rector was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the heart of Indian country. He lived in Muskogee, then Tulsa, Oklahoma for most of his life, until he retired. He then moved to Destin, Florida to be near his children until the time of his death in 2012.

His first drawings were done by looking at comic book characters and drawing them. As a teenage artist, he began to study all forms and styles of artwork on his own. Everything from commercial art and signs to fine art of various types, western art being his favorite.

Having a great interest in physical fitness, Rector became a champion weightlifter, setting several state records, two national and one world record. He developed an appreciation for great strength and body development. Incorporating this appreciation with his deep spirituality into his artwork has brought about portrayals of the American Indian and other Western characters that show the great strength of the active, robust early American.

A Rector "character" painting gives the impression of strength and power but still has the grace and beauty of lines that was portrayed by some of the "Old Masters" such as Michelangelo.

Rector is listed on the State of Oklahoma's website as one of their "Famous Oklahomans". Rector was also recognized as one of the top "Movers and Shakers" in the book written by Victoria Lee celebrating Tulsa, Oklahoma's centennial.

Art As An Investment

High quality art has become one of the best investments of our time. It is not uncommon for limited edition prints to sell for ten to twenty times their original cost after the edition is sold out. Originals are an even better investment. They increase in value as the artist who painted them gains in fame and popularity. If a person can invest in a painting or lithograph print that they can enjoy looking at every day and know that it is increasing in value, that is an unbeatable combination. A fine art collection holds both aesthetic as well as economic value.
Joe Rector art has proven to be an excellent investment for many collectors.
